Thanks for serving in this important way. There is a training seminar run from time to time on PA. This is simply a checklist for those who have already been trained. If you would like to attend the next training, please contact Darryl Soh (9am), Chas McAlpine (10:30) or Julian Gamble (6pm).
A detailed job description with photos is coming soon.
- Be ready to start on time.
- Stay alert for ‘spur of the moment’ unscripted changes (leaders have an annoying habit of doing this when you least expect it.)
- Stay alert to change sound levels for different speakers
- Make sure you record the talk.
10:05 am/5:15pm.
Setting up Computer
1. Turn on monitor and computer (if not on already).
2. When the computer asks you to log in, select ‘sound desk’
3. The two programs you need to open, if they don?t automatically open are:
Talk Recorder* (for recording the talk) and Sunday Plus! (for driving the data projector).
Both have icons on the desktop.
* this program has changed, it is now “Talk Recorder” a big orange shortcut on the Desktop and Start Menu
- Check the PA is working, including in the foyer.
- Turn on video camera and be ready for switching between words and screen for people in the foyer.
- Get a run sheet (from the leader) so you know what is happening.
- Turn on the data projector, the song leader?s monitor and pull down the screen
- Check with the church meeting leader for what mics are required for Kids Talk, interviews or other special segments in the church meeting.
- Do a sound check with the musos and song leaders. Set mic levels as required. Turn off un-needed mics.
- Check that the correct songs are loaded into Easy Worship.
- Run through the songs as the musos practise, so that:
(i) the words come up on their screen,
(ii) you are familiar with the song and make the page transitions at the right point.
(iii) you can spot any variations (e.g. repeated chorus, an omitted verse).
Recording the Talk & Question time with Talk Recorder
1. At the right time (just before the talk starts) press the red Record button,
2. Press the ‘Stop’ button after the talk finishes. (But don’t exit this program just minimise it.)
3. Press the ‘Record’ button when Question Time starts. Then press the ‘Stop’ button when Question Time is finished.
At the end:
- Turn off PA and computer screen at the power point on your right, but PLEASE DO NOT TURN OFF the computer itself.
- Switch the data projector to stanby mode (orange light).
