Our mission together at DPC is to proclaim Jesus that people might become Christians and grow as Christians. Part of growing in Christ, is giving, as God has enabled us to give – of our time, our abilities, and our finances. While God has placed us in a significant mission field in the inner-west of Sydney, our desire is to also contribute to God’s wider mission throughout all the world.
Our giving this year at DPC has dropped slightly by 2% compared to this time last year. However we had budgeted for an increase in giving and we are currently 10% behind budget. Our budget for this year was drawn up to reflect a commitment of $20,000 p.a. to our overseas missionaries and because we plan to take on a part-time worker at 6pm church at the start of 2011.
The Management Committee would encourage everyone to prayerfully consider their giving, but also to pray for our congregations to grow – as a relatively small congregational growth would seem to be the best method of meeting our financial challenge and thereby growing our ministry at dpc.
Feel free to speak with any member of the Management Committee about this update (Adam Ladkins, Michael Booth, David Sampson, Lynne Pickering, Frederik Theron, Brad Russ, Karen Drew, Marnie Apieczonek, Ceasar Chung, Chris Adams or Craig Tucker)
Talking about money is a tricky thing. It would be sad if newcomers got the impression that “the church just wants my money”. We don’t want people to come simply so that they will give – indeed, we have something to offer them! – God’s free gift of forgiveness and new life. However, at the same time we want our church family to know how things are going. We are partners together (with each other and with God) in the exciting things that are happening at Drummoyne. This letter has been sent to everyone in our Address Book – however if you would rather not receive such a letter in the future please let Craig Tucker know and a confidential note will be made to that effect.
