The inner west of Sydney is one of the most unchurched parts of Australia. At dpc, we live in the midst of a significant mission field. We long and pray for God to use us more and more effectively to reach people in the inner west with the good news about Jesus, and be a church where people do not simply come to Christ but are being equipped to be useful for the kingdom whether they stay here or eventually leave us.

Drummoyne Presbyterian Church was planted in the 1880s when Drummoyne was a new housing estate on the edge of a growing young city. Meeting first in the pub on the corner of Lyons Rd & Victoria Rd (known known as P J Gallaghers) it was known as a church that was committed to the gospel and faithfully taught the Scriptures.

A lots has happened down the years. In 2000 the area was undergoing significant renewal and changing from a primarily elderly population to become more medium density with the primary demographic being young proffessional city workers. At the same time dpc underwent significant renewal. Alongside the existing 9am congregation a new congregation commenced at 10:30am catering for young families commenced. From small beginings, we have watched God do great things…

Our experience at DPC since 2001 is that 25 to 45 year old mobile professionals are not just the rapidly growing demographic in the inner west, but many are in the midst of life change (work, new city, marriage, becoming parents) and are thinking about life’s big questions, and are willing to give the gospel a hearing…
