dpc Elders and Leadership Group

(revised Jan 2012)

Under the eldership, in each congregation there will be a Leadership Group (LG) made up of:
(i) an identifiable pastor (appointed by Craig),
(ii) elders who attend that congregation
(iii) other staff members (appointed by Craig)
(iv) home group leaders, assistant leaders and other key people in that congregation (appointed by the elders).
It is important to have a forum for leaders to focus on the issues of each congregation.

The Leadership Group meetings will take on many of the functions of our HGLO meetings. There will be be no HGLO meetings in 2011 onwards.

Why have Leadership Groups?

The role of each LG is to:
(i) reflect on how things are going pastorally and organizationally in their congregation (people & meetings)
(ii) proactive & creative, not just reacting to problems
(iii) high level of confidentiality
(iv) commitment to mutual support and prayer
(v) evaluate their congregations contribution to the Core Purpose & Values of dpc
(vi) specifically in 2012 we want each LG to develop strategies for Welcoming & Outreach appropriate for their congregation, its size and makeup. Each Leadership Group to report back to the elders by July 2012 on their strategies for Welcoming & Incorporation. These strategies will seek to come to grips with the following questions:
How do people get welcomed? How do we connect people with people? How do people find out what we are on about? How do they get involved?
Currently? Future? How does someone go from “fist visit” to “Leadership Group”?
