Tim Keller on "The US as a Christian nation"
Listened to Time Keller on MSN being interviewed about Christianity in the US. One of the many interesting things was the observation that historically, evangelical christianity in the US is a bluecollar movement. So as the US becomes more a uni-graduate culture Christianity's traditional base is in sharp decline.
How different is this to evangelical Christianity in Australia which is primarily a white collar, uni-educated movement. This distinction explains so many differences! Preaching styles. Different models of piety. The US evangelical suspicion of theology and study. The tendency of Aust evangelicals to be bookish and appeal to a uni-educated audience but not connect with bluecollar Australians.
