Reach the World

Part of serving Jesus is longing for the good news about him to be heard by everyone.
We support Tear Fund a Christian organisation working in third world contexts
and dpc has three links with Thailand...

In early 2010, we will also be sending two families, from DPC to support the church in East Asia.

There will be a supporters' prayer breakfast for the Tan family in DPC Hall on Saturday 10th July from 8.15am.  The cost is $5 to cover breakfast.  This should be a great time to pray for the Tans, hear from them about what has been happening & connect with other supporters.

Please RSVP for catering purposes to Lauren Graham at jonathangraham@iinet.net.au before 8th July.

In our denomination, one minister and elder from each congregation in the region meet monthly for encouragement, support and to work together for the growth of God's kingdom. This region is called the "Presbytery" and our Presbytery covers the 15 congregations in the CBD and Inner West of Sydney. At the Presbytery meeting last Tuesday Darryl Soh & Ian Halbisch were accepted as "Candidates for Presbyterian Ministry" This is a signnificant step in the process of someone becoming a recognised minister in the PCA. One family from the 6pm congregation were "recieved" as missionaries offically recognised by the PCA. Also, our Presbytery conducts "visitations" to each church from time to time. A team of four men from neighbouring Presbyterian Churches met last Wednesday with some of the staff and their wives, and met with the elders and management committee. Once the "visitation" is complete their report on dpc (and any reccomendations we need to act on) will be available to the congregation (probably in a couple of months time).

In January 2010, DPC plans to send two families from our 6pm congregation to support the church in East Asia. This involves DPC partnering with two missionary organisations: Overseas Missionary Fellowship (OMF) and Mission Partners (also known as Australian Presbyterian World Mission). As the Government in this part of the world does not positively support Christian workers, we can’t be too specific about location.

Why are we sending them?

Our mission at DPC is to glorify God by proclaiming Jesus to everyone so that people might become Christians and grow as Christians.

While we at DPC work together to proclaim Jesus to the people of the Inner West, we are also committed to proclaiming Jesus to people in other parts of the world. One of the ways that we do this is by sending people from our church overseas to do this work. We’ve been doing this with Deb Chen in Thailand and we hope to send these two families to East Asia next year.
