The Weekend Away will be a time of connecting with people in our congregations, learning more about living as followers of Christ, and serving one another.

We’ll hear some fresh perspectives on Christians and the world from the bible, with Greg Clarke, relax and deepen our relationships as a church family.

If you have registered for the DPC Weekend Away, please read the following as it details some important information regarding the weekend:

 

2010 DPC Weekend Away Information Letter

 

When is it?

Friday 12th February to Sunday 14th February 2010.

Registrations start from 6:30pm on the Friday. Supper will be served on Friday night, but it is recommended that you eat dinner before arriving at the conference centre.

A short Friday night Session will start at 8pm.

The weekend away will finish at 2pm on Sunday.

 

Where is it?

Weekend Away 2010 will be held at The Tops Conference Centre, Stanwell Tops NSW. You can find out more about the site here: http://www.thetops.com.au/

It is approximately 1 1/2 - 2 hours drive from Sydney. Get directions here.

What do I need to bring?

·            Bed linen or a sleeping bag

·            Clothes

·            Wet weather gear

·            Swimmers

·            Towel & toiletries

·            Bible, pen etc

·            Sunscreen

·            Insect repellent

·            Sports gear, Games, Dancing shoes & a Flannie

Day Visitors

For day visitors, please come by 8:30am to ensure that you are registered before our first session begins.

 

Kids Programme

A Kids programme is organised for Saturday morning only between breakfast and lunch. The Kids programme will run in the same groups as our Kids Church. Please note that children will be the responsibility of their parents at all other times of the weekend away.

Years 3 to 6 (Primary)

 

Special meals

Please note that if you have requested a special dietary requirement (on your registration form), DPC will incur a $5 fee for every un-collected meal.

Greg Clarke is speaking at our Weekend Away 2010.

He has come to Drummoyne Presbyterian to speak a number of times, addressing issues such as Atheism, The Da Vinci Code and other topics.

Dr Greg Clarke is co-founder and Director (with John Dickson) of the Centre for Public Christianity. His doctorate is in literature, with special interest in how theology is discussed in the arts and humanities. Greg has written books and studies on topics ranging from the Bible to sex to The Da Vinci Code to the end of the world.  He is author of over 200 articles and reviews in publications such as The Sydney Morning Herald, Southerly, kategoria, Books and Culture (US) and onlineopinion.com.au.

Greg splits his time between writing, academic work and public lecturing, and is primarily interested in talking about the importance of Christianity for understanding the meaning of life.

Greg is married to Amelia and they live in Botany in Sydney’s south-east with their three children.
