<![endif]-->At Drummoyne, we have two Hubs. This post explains what happens at the Thurday night Hub for people that go to night church. You can find out more about the Tuesday Women's Hub here.

Thursday night Hub

As night church grows the leaders (staff and elders) have been thinking how to continue to run Home Groups with fewer leaders<!--[if !supportAnnotations]-->; how does Drummoyne continue connecting, growing and serving one another through studying God's word together?

We think the Hub is a worthy experiment of which we would like to invite you to be part. The Hub consists of several home groups meeting in one space. So instead of six HGs meeting across the week, five HGs will meet altogether on one night, in the hall. Whilst we hope that the majority of night church will attend the hub, two “off site” HGs will be scheduled, one on a Monday and one on a Thursday, to give people with limited night options the chance to be in a group. Like everything we do, it will need to be evaluated as time goes on.

The format might vary. We could start sometimes with a big group with a 5 min introduction, break out into Home Groups for discussion and prayer in various rooms around the church/hall site, and then return to big group for questions and reflection and supper. Other times we might go straight to groups. We might eat together fairly regularly? There are lots of possibilities.

Some things won’t change. As we’ve always done, people will commit themselves to the people in their particular Home Group for the year so they can get to know a small group of people really well, pray for, and together take responsibility to care for people attached to their group.

We hope the Hub will be in a space and format that will allow each Home Group to grow. Beginning the year in smaller sized groups (6-8 people) means that these groups can welcome new people throughout the year. Where some HGs this year have been limited by the size of houses or apartments, we hope that the Hub will offer a practical solution where no-one has to miss out on studying God's word because of space restrictions. It also gives the opportunity for people to be trained to become a full fledged Home group leader. While at times during the year, groups will choose their own material, at other times we will work together on a common set of bible studies.

While the top hall is obviously a big space in which we can grow into, but lacks 'homely warmth', we envisage each group owning a room in the church/hall site somewhere. We will also be looking into how to modify the top hall to 'work for us' and your suggestions will be welcomed. We think having the Hub “on site” has its advantages.
